Drawing Exam Guidelines

These guidelines ensure consistency, fairness, and accuracy in evaluating students’ proficiency in abacus-based arithmetic across different grade levels.
1. Exam Structure & General Instructions
- Time Limit: Specify the total time allotted (e.g., 60 minutes, 90 minutes).
- Materials Allowed: List permitted materials (e.g., pencils, erasers, rulers, colored pencils, markers, charcoal).
- Paper Size & Type: Indicate the required paper size (e.g., A4, A3) and texture (smooth, rough).
- Theme/Topic: Clearly state the drawing subject or allow creative freedom based on instructions.
- Submission Rules: Ensure students write their names on the back of the paper (if anonymity is required for grading).
2. Evaluation Criteria
- Composition (20%) – Arrangement of elements within the drawing space.
- Creativity & Originality (20%) – Unique ideas and approach to the topic.
- Technical Skill (20%) – Control over medium, shading, proportions, perspective.
- Neatness & Presentation (20%) – Clean lines, minimal smudging, proper finishing.
- Relevance to Theme (20%) – Alignment with given topic or prompt.
3. Drawing Guidelines
- Basic Sketching: Start with light pencil strokes; avoid heavy pressing early on.
- Proportions & Perspective: Maintain accurate size relationships and depth when applicable.
- Shading & Texturing: Use proper techniques (hatching, cross-hatching, stippling) for depth.
- Color Application (if applicable): Ensure smooth blending, proper color contrast, and consistency.
- Final Presentation: Erase unnecessary marks and add final touches before submission.
4. Prohibited Actions
- Tracing or Copying: Work must be original; tracing from printed images is not allowed.
- Use of External References (if restricted): Follow the exam’s instructions regarding reference use.
- Late Submissions: No extensions unless under special circumstances.
5. Additional Notes for Different Levels
- Beginners (Grades 1-4): Focus on basic shapes, colors, and creativity.
- Intermediate (Grades 5-8): Emphasize proportion, shading, and basic perspective.
